File name is stored and displayed for uploaded Media

All my video files are named with names & references that always go into the notes/caption, this would save some copy & pasting

Doesn't make much sense to just show the filename when things are still randomized and there's no way to organize files in the calendar view when it's necessary to have them organzied.

Seems like it would be a pretty standard thing. The most basic systems allow to organize by file name.

Yes what is happening here? I want to be able to search for a file based on its name to know if I have already uploaded it.

All my files names are used to reference a person, place, or photographer. I need to know who the photographer is in order to make a post. It's very hindering that it is not possible to see the original file name.

What is the status of this improvement? It looks like this has been in progress for 2 years...

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for the details. We are planning to do your #3 suggestion!  We are soon going to be collecting the file-name as metadata, and will find a place to display this metadata on the Media Items

Also, thank you for your kind words - we aim to keep improving the product, and hope you like our most recent improvements!

    Hi Roger,

I upload a lots of gig videos, so as a way of making sure the right caption goes on the right video then everything is listed in the filename i.e
"Sven Vath live at Tomorrowland playing sandstorm.mp4"

At the moment I manually paste the filename into the caption and then tidy it up an format it.

I’m aware that doing it by default might not be ideal for all so a few of ideas -
1 - Have the option somewhere to populate it by default
2 - have a default saved caption that allows you to paste in the filename with one click
3 - Display the filename somewhere on the popout so it can be easily copy & pasted manually

I must say it is impressive how quickly you guys add features, I haven’t been using later long & have already watched it get better & better, said captions were massive for me, can’t wait for them to appear on the app (which I believe is on the way already).

    Thanks Roger,

Want to understand your use-case:  why do you put the file names in the Notes? Is this so you can find them later / organize them?
