Caption from Lightroom or other editor

I use Adobe Lightroom to catalogue and edit my photographs, and export to the desktop for uploading to Later. I know that there is a plugin/service  [for the moment at least] which can be used to post direct to Instagram. I love the scheduling of Later, so that's not an option for me. The one thing that I need is the ability to add captions in Lightroom which are recognised by the Notes / Caption area, of Later. At the moment, despite being added in various IPTC fields in Lightroom and showing up when exported, they are lost when uploaded to Later.

    Admin response

Later now grabs the text/caption from the EXIF data and puts into the Media notes!

Question: does this grab the keywords and create hashtags based off of them?

This! I was using LRInstagram before, and I liked that fact that I could use my tags directly as Hashtags for Instagram.

100,000 people using Lightroom and so many of them are using the metadata there to add keywords (TAGS) and Descriptions (POST TEXT) and titles (Headlines).  Later is actually going through more effort to NOT keep that information in the JPG than if they just left it in.  It can be used by other social media platforms, even if Later didn't strip it out.  But then add the benefit of showing that information to us IN LATER, and allow us to use it to create our posts... that would be useful.  Right now, the way LATER is designed requires us to write our descriptions twice.  If LATER is about saving time and making things easier for us, this is a MUST.  And it is not just Lightroom.  Any photo editing program has the ability to add metadata.  KEEP THE METADATA!  Don't strip our content of its important data and since it is there... USE IT!  This is a no-brainer!  It will actually be the determining factor as to whether I continue using LATER or not.  If LATER keeps stripping my data from my images, I don't think I can keep using it.  I'm on the lookout for a posting service that will post and use my metadata wisely.  Right now, LATER is completely missing the concept of efficiency on this front.

Great idea - there are 100,000 of people using Adobe Lightroom - you are missing an opportunity to capture a big audience.... get there before Hootsuite does.. :-)

Just came to suggest this very idea. Adding media from Lightroom to Later would be amazing.
